Are Porcelain Tiles As Versatile As People Say?

It’s hard to deny the sheer beauty of porcelain tiles. Classy and traditional, they can improve the look of almost any room they’re used in. But are they really all that practical? And are they suitable for a wide variety of purposes?

Today we’ll be taking a look at some of the most common usages of porcelain tiles and whether or not they’re really as versatile as people say.

A Classic Kitchen Floor

If there’s one thing that porcelain tiles are really known for it’s kitchen floor tiles. Porcelain floors can come in almost any style and/or pattern. Colour certainly isn’t a problem as you’ll find gorgeous porcelain tiles in almost every colour as well. More than that they’re perfect for kitchen floors because of how easy they are to wipe down.

If there’s one main criticism of porcelain tile flooring it’s that it can be cold to the touch for those who like to walk about the house in socks or barefoot. That being said, there’s an easy solution to this if you feel like investing in underfloor heating. While it is worth consulting an expert installer as to the correct heating system to be compatible with your choice of tiles, once you have both you really will have the ultimate kitchen floor experience.

Porcelain Tiles For Walls

One area where you’ll want to take some care is choosing porcelain tiles for walls. While there are plenty of porcelain tiles that are suitable for both floors and walls, some are suitable for floors only. This is because floor tiles are generally thicker and walls will struggle to hold the weight of them.

Are Porcelain Tiles More Versatile Than Other Materials?

When you compare porcelain tiles to other materials, there’s just no denying that they come out on top in terms of versatility. While other materials such as natural stone may have their own unique aesthetic appeal, porcelain tiles offer a level of durability and versatility that simply can’t be matched. Unlike natural stone, porcelain tiles are non-porous, making them resistant to stains, scratches, and other types of damage.

Furthermore, because it’s relatively easy and affordable to produce, porcelain is far more cost-effective than competitor materials.

Now, we love our natural stone and if you want quality you certainly couldn’t do much better, but most people don’t realise just how well porcelain competes. In fact, aesthetically speaking, many people even prefer the look of porcelain and with the far wider choice of styles available, it’s not hard to see why.

All in all, while every material has its pros and cons, it’s hard to deny just how versatile porcelain really is.
